About the Role
Reporting to the Manager of Desktop Applications, the Desktop Applications Support Specialist will play a key role in managing and supporting firmwide applications and services. You will act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and lead key deployment and upgrade initiatives, ensuring systems are maintained at the highest standards of reliability, usability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and support complex, business-critical applications in an enterprise environment.
- Lead troubleshooting and escalation activities for high-impact technical issues.
- Support service design, installations, upgrades, and configuration of desktop-related applications.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives including automation and scripting (PowerShell, etc.).
- Collaborate with internal IS teams and vendors to resolve integration and configuration issues.
- Coordinate application deployments and upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.
- Develop documentation for processes, tools, and configurations.
- Actively monitor application health and performance across the desktop ecosystem.
- Provide second-level support to end users and technical teams.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and services to support business and IT goals.
- Ensure compliance with firmwide confidentiality and security protocols.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in desktop application support or systems administration in an enterprise setting.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in Windows Desktop and Server support, including SQL Server and IIS.
- Advanced knowledge of deployment tools and methods (e.g., MECM, Autopilot, Intune).
- Proficient with scripting and automation (PowerShell, batch, WMI, Windows Registry).
- Experience with hybrid environments and cloud application deployment and support.
- Understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of SQL queries for troubleshooting and reporting purposes.
- Familiarity with legal or professional services software is an asset.
- Exposure to Citrix, RDS, and virtualization technologies is a plus.
